Written sheriff public-record requests must be hand-delivered to Chilton County Sheriff's Office, Attn: Public Records, 500 2nd Avenue North, Clanton, Alabama 35045-3421. Telephone and fax requests are not accepted. The sheriff page contains a fee conflict: its instructions state a $20 minimum processing fee, while the embedded form states a nonrefundable $25 minimum. The right destination depends on the question:
- For a county booking photograph, booking sheet, current inmate, recent release, or archived jail entry, begin with the Chilton County booking-record hub and then use the sheriff's form if needed.
- For current bond or jail status, call the Chilton County Jail at 205-755-1053. The jail fax is 205-280-1580, and booking fax is 205-755-1011.
- For a court disposition or comprehensive county warrant question, contact the Chilton County Circuit Clerk at 500 2nd Avenue North, 205-755-4275, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Circuit Criminal is option 2; District Criminal is option 1.
- For the sheriff's selected photo list and safety-framed warrant routes, see Wanted Fugitives. That list is not a complete county warrant search.
- For a release date or custody alert, use the sheriff's roster subscriptions, official mobile app, or Alabama's VINE victim-notification channel, then call the jail when a current answer is urgent.
- For a person serving an Alabama prison sentence, use the Alabama Department of Corrections offender search or its Form 23-A public-record process.
- For a federal sentence, use the Federal Bureau of Prisons locator. For immigration custody, use the ICE Online Detainee Locator.
